Making the Outdoors Accessible to All
Discover more of the outdoors with off-road electric track chairs and wildlife viewing structures designed to make outdoor recreation more accessible across Michigan. Through our partnership with the MIDNR and several private landowners, we help provide access to accessible hunting blinds across Michigan. Many locations have only one blind available, and all blinds must be reserved prior to use.
Built to handle a variety of terrain, these accessible chairs make it easier to travel across trails, snow, sand, and even through water up to 8 inches deep, giving users the opportunity to explore areas of the parks that may be difficult to reach with a traditional wheelchair.
Off-road track chairs are provided through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and are available at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis with advance reservations required.
Each blind is constructed with several accessibility features, such as a 4ft wide door to accommodate action tracked wheelchairs, a recessed inside bench so users can easily position themselves, easy-open doors, slide windows for smooth opening, and additional seating for aides. We partner with Ford Motor Company and Saginaw Correctional Facility, which oversee the building of the accessible structures.
They are maintained by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and are available at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis, with advance reservations required.
